The iQOO Neo 12 vs Honor WIN RT 2 matchup became a real contest on October 28, 2026, when iQOO put the Neo 12 on sale in China at $659 (CNY 4,399). That’s a week after Honor launched the WIN RT 2 at $629 (CNY 4,199), and both phones share the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, a 2K 185Hz screen and a built-in cooling fan. So the question isn’t which phone is faster on paper. It’s what you give up, and what you gain, with each one.

If you don’t follow Chinese gaming phones, here’s the short version: iQOO is Vivo’s performance brand, and Honor’s WIN line is its gaming series. Both sell mostly in China, both raised prices sharply this year, and both now put a fan inside the phone to stop it slowing down when it heats up. We haven’t tested either phone. Instead, this comparison runs on official launch specs, Honor’s and iQOO’s own claims, clearly labeled reports and our own math, across seven rounds.

Price: Honor Is Cheaper at Every Matching Tier

Memory and storage iQOO Neo 12 Honor WIN RT 2 Gap
12GB + 256GB $659 (CNY 4,399) $629 (CNY 4,199) $30
16GB + 256GB $719 (CNY 4,799) $689 (CNY 4,599) $30
12GB + 512GB $764 (CNY 5,099) $734 (CNY 4,899) $30
16GB + 512GB $824 (CNY 5,499) $779 (CNY 5,199) $45
16GB + 1TB $974 (CNY 6,499) Not offered —

At the base tier, the WIN RT 2 costs about 4.5% less. That’s a small gap, but it runs through every matching configuration, and it grows to $45 at 16GB and 512GB. Only iQOO sells a 1TB model, so if you shoot a lot of video or keep large game libraries, that’s the one tier Honor can’t match.

iQOO Neo 12 vs Honor WIN RT 2 Handson

What stands out more is how far both prices climbed. The original Honor WIN RT launched at CNY 2,699, so the RT2 costs 56% more than its predecessor. The Neo 12 started more than 60% higher than the Neo 11’s launch price, too. Memory chips have become much more expensive as AI data centers buy up supply, and the global RAM shortage is a big reason gaming phones that once started under $400 now start above $600.

In short, neither phone is a bargain by last year’s standards, but Honor is the cheaper of the two.

Honor wins this round.

Design and Durability: Honor Is Tougher, iQOO Is Lighter

iQOO Neo 12 Honor WIN RT 2
Size 163.4 x 75.9 x 8.5mm (8.67mm gray) 163 x 78 x 8.5mm
Weight 225g to 229g 238g
Water and dust IP68, IP69 IP68, IP69, IP69K
Frame and back Aluminum frame, glass-fiber or glass back Matte metal frame, flat back
Extras Fan vent with two dust screens Rear “WIN Energy Ring” light, 40+ effects

The two phones are almost the same height and thickness, but the Honor is about 2mm wider and 9g to 13g heavier. You’d likely notice the width more than the weight, especially if you hold your phone in one hand.

iQOO Neo 12 Design

On toughness, both phones carry IP68 and IP69. An IP rating is a score for dust and water protection. IP68 means a phone survives being underwater for a while, while IP69 covers hot, high-pressure water jets. Honor adds IP69K, an even tougher version of that jet test. Either way, both brands sealed their fans well enough to keep those ratings, which wasn’t a given two years ago.

Honor WIN RT 2 Design

Style is personal, so we won’t score it. The RT2 leans into gamer looks with a programmable light ring on the back, while the Neo 12 is the plainer of the two.

Honor wins this round narrowly, on the extra water rating.

Display: Two 2K Screens, Two Different Strengths

iQOO Neo 12 Honor WIN RT 2
Size and resolution 6.83″, 3200 x 1440 (~514 ppi) 6.89″, 3104 x 1440 (~496 ppi)
Max refresh rate 185Hz 185Hz
Brightness (as quoted) 2,200 nits peak/HBM 2,000 nits HBM; 10,000 nits peak
Dimming 2,160Hz PWM plus DC dimming 5,920Hz PWM
High-frame-rate games 50+ titles 40+ titles

Refresh rate is how many times per second the screen redraws, and both top out at 185Hz in supported games. Resolution, meanwhile, is close enough that you won’t see a difference at arm’s length.

Brightness is where the marketing gets confusing. Honor’s 10,000 nits is a peak figure for a tiny bright spot in HDR video, and Honor itself lists a more modest 2,000 nits in high-brightness mode (HBM), which is the boost your phone uses in direct sun. iQOO quotes 2,200 nits for the Neo 12. So on the number that matters outdoors, the two are about even, and arguably iQOO is slightly ahead.

iQOO Neo 12 vs Honor WIN RT 2 Display

Dimming is a different story. OLED screens dim by flickering very fast, a method called PWM. A higher rate is usually easier on eyes that are sensitive to flicker, and Honor’s 5,920Hz is almost three times iQOO’s figure. However, iQOO also offers DC dimming, which lowers brightness by reducing power instead of flickering. If screens give you headaches, either phone is a reasonable choice.

Call this round a draw.

Performance: Same Chip, but iQOO Adds a Helper

iQOO Neo 12 Honor WIN RT 2
Main chip Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (3nm) Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (3nm)
Gaming helper Q3 chip WIN Display and WIN Touch chips
Max memory 16GB + 1TB 16GB + 512GB
AnTuTu (reported) ~4.35 million ~3.95 million
Geekbench (pre-launch listing) 3,621 single / 11,078 multi Not available

Both phones run the same main processor. Its 3nm label describes how tiny the chip’s transistors are, and smaller usually means faster performance with less heat. So in apps, scrolling and everyday multitasking, we’d expect them to feel identical.

The difference is in games. iQOO adds its Q3 helper chip, which handles three jobs: upscaling (rendering a game at lower resolution, then sharpening it to 2K), frame interpolation (inserting extra frames so motion looks smoother) and ray tracing (more realistic lighting and reflections). iQOO says these features work in a set list of titles, from 10 games for ray tracing to 13 for 2K upscaling. Honor counters with its own display and touch chips, plus an AI rendering feature, but it hasn’t published an equivalent games list.

AnTuTu, a benchmark that combines processor, graphics and memory into one score, reportedly puts the Neo 12 about 10% ahead. We’d treat that carefully, because scores vary between test runs and firmware versions. Still, the Neo 12’s early Geekbench listing landed right on the average for this chip, so iQOO isn’t hiding a weak spot.

iQOO wins this round, mainly for its gaming chip and 1TB option.

Cooling: Two Fans vs One Very Well-Documented Fan

Both phones have active cooling, meaning a real spinning fan. That matters because chips slow themselves down when they get hot, a process called thermal throttling. A fan pushes heat out of the phone, so frame rates stay closer to their peak during long sessions. It’s the same reason 2nm-class gaming phones are adding fans.

iQOO has shared unusually specific details about the Neo 12’s fan:

  • 59 blades, 17mm across and 4mm tall, with three modes: low-noise, automatic and fast
  • Two dust screens on the air intake, with the fan’s airflow channel rated IPX8 and IPX9
  • An upgraded vapor chamber, a thin liquid-filled plate that spreads heat, which iQOO says works 15% better
  • Free fan cleaning, up to 12 times a year, at Vivo service centers in China

iQOO Neo 12 Cooling Fan

Honor’s launch materials say the WIN RT 2 shares the “Dongfeng Twin Star Turbine” dual-fan system with the pricier WIN 2. Honor claims it moves up to 1.19 CFM of air (cubic feet per minute, a measure of airflow), removes 150% more heat than a single-fan design, and runs 9dB quieter thanks to its curved blades. Some early reports described a single fan in the RT2, though, so the fan count is worth checking against Honor’s final spec page.

On paper, Honor’s two fans should move more air. However, iQOO’s dust screens and free cleaning answer the biggest long-term worry about fan phones: lint. Until independent tests measure sustained performance, we can’t call a winner.

Call this round a draw.

Cameras: Honor’s 200MP Sensor Is the Clear Upgrade

iQOO Neo 12 Honor WIN RT 2
Main 50MP Sony IMX921, 1/1.56″, f/1.88, OIS 200MP, 1/1.55″, f/1.9, OIS
Ultrawide 8MP, f/2.2 12MP, f/2.2, 112°
Selfie 16MP, 1080p video 50MP, 4K60 video
Max rear video 8K 4K60
Telephoto None None

Both main sensors are roughly the same physical size, which matters most for low-light photos. The difference is resolution. Honor’s 200MP sensor can crop into the middle of the frame for a sharper 2x or 4x shot, which partly makes up for the missing zoom lens. With iQOO’s 50MP sensor, those crops lose detail faster.

The rest of the camera kit also favors Honor. Its 12MP ultrawide has more resolution than iQOO’s 8MP one, which helps with group shots and wide scenery. Its 50MP selfie camera records 4K at 60 frames per second, while iQOO’s 16MP front camera stops at 1080p, so if you stream, vlog or video-call a lot, that’s a real gap.

iQOO’s only camera win is 8K video, which the Neo 12’s full spec sheet lists alongside 4K and 1080p. Few people use it, though, because the files are huge and most screens can’t show it.

Honor wins this round clearly.

Battery and Charging: Honor Holds More, iQOO Refills Faster

iQOO Neo 12 Honor WIN RT 2
Capacity 9,000mAh silicon-carbon 12,070mAh silicon-carbon
Wired charging 100W 90W
Reverse charging Wired 27W wired
mAh per gram (our math) ~40 ~51
Price per 1,000mAh (our math) ~$73 ~$52

mAh (milliamp-hours) measures how much charge a battery holds. The RT2 holds 34% more, or 3,070mAh extra, and both phones use silicon-carbon cells, which mix silicon into the battery to store more energy without making the phone thicker. By our math, Honor squeezes about 51mAh into every gram of phone, against about 40mAh for iQOO.

Charging flips the picture. iQOO’s 100W charger has less battery to fill, so by our math it delivers about 49% more charging power per mAh than Honor’s 90W setup. In practice, that should mean shorter top-ups on the Neo 12, although neither brand has published an official full-charge time we could verify.

So which matters more? If you charge overnight, the RT2’s bigger battery is the better deal, since you’ll go further between charges. If you top up in short bursts between games, the Neo 12’s faster charging narrows the gap.

Honor wins this round, because capacity is the advantage you feel every day.

What the $30 Extra Actually Gets You

Because the two phones are so close in price, it helps to look at the trade directly. For $30 more, the iQOO Neo 12 gives you:

  • A Q3 gaming chip for upscaling, frame generation and ray tracing in supported games
  • 100W charging instead of 90W
  • A 1TB option and 8K video
  • A slightly lighter, narrower body
  • Fan dust screens and free fan cleaning in China

For $30 less, the Honor WIN RT 2 gives you:

  • 3,070mAh more battery
  • A 200MP main camera, a sharper ultrawide and a 50MP 4K60 selfie camera
  • IP69K on top of IP68 and IP69
  • A higher-rate 5,920Hz PWM screen and a dual-fan system

Software is a wash. The Neo 12 runs OriginOS 7 and the RT2 runs MagicOS 11, both on Android 17, and both China versions are built for Chinese apps and services. Some importers sell the RT2 with Google’s apps preinstalled, but that’s a seller setup, not an Honor promise. Neither brand has published a long-term update commitment for these China models that we could verify. Fingerprint readers are another small catch: the Neo 12 confirms an ultrasonic reader, which uses sound waves and works better with wet fingers, while Honor’s launch materials only highlight one on the WIN 2, so check the RT2 listing before you buy.
