Jan Oberholzer, ex-Eskom COO, moves from coal to renewables

Jan Oberholzer has a new role at South African renewables producer Mulilo Energy Holdings.

Jan Oberholzer has quit the state-owned utility and will leave at the end of the month.

The former Eskom chief operating officer, who was due to retire, will stay on at the utility to help defeat load shedding.

Widespread breakdowns in Eskom’s generation fleet saw South Africa plunged back into stage-4 load shedding in the early hours of Friday.

Rhulani Mathebula, Eskom’s acting general executive for generation, has resigned and will leave the state-owned utility at the end of this month.
